Recent submitted research

• Making Small Explanations Useful Together: What Shared Notes Support in 1Cademy — Submitted manuscript, under review. Four researchers used linked educational notes to answer questions and recommend changes. Across 48 attempts, completing an answer did not settle how to improve the shared explanation. The study distinguishes helping one reader finish a task from improving a resource for future use.
• Suggest, Guide, Rewrite: Comparing Forms of AI Writing Assistance — Submitted manuscript, under review. Fifty-four professional writers tried guidance, local suggestions, and complete rewrites. Guidance yielded lower human-rated quality and greater reported effort; 38 writers chose local suggestions to keep. Ownership and control comparisons were inconclusive, so preference does not establish that a tool preserves voice.
• Keeping the Reason Behind the Label: What Self-Coded Presentation Feedback Supports — Submitted manuscript, under review. Labels can summarize feedback while losing the reason behind it. In 39 written responses comparing reading presentations, two reviewers per response found mostly partial retention of a selected relation or qualification. Exploratory model analysis examined where interpretation added meaning rather than simply preserving it.
